Storm Damage – Wilmington School

Storm damage hit this Wilmington school when heavy rains overflowed a nearby waterway and allowed groundwater to be spilled into the school facility. SERVPRO of New Hanover was called in to remediate the water damage and related conditions. Our technicians would first assess the damage and pinpoint the source of the water intrusion. The flow of water would be stopped. After the water was suspended from entering the building the water would be vacuum extracted and the floor would be sanitized. As part of the remediation, the interior would be tested for moisture content in the building materials and the air quality. Mold can grow within three to five days when the interior humidity levels are above sixty percent which poses a threat to inhabitants of the building.
